COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR – RETAIL/WHOLESALE AND ECOMMERCE (BRITISH HERITAGE LUXURY RTW MEN’S & WOMEN’S)
The client, under new ownership from a larger group, wanted to make structural changes within the business in order to achieve their 5 year growth plan. The appointment of a Commercial Director was needed to minimise direct reports to the CEO allowing her to be more strategic and less operational. The new role would direct best practice and maximise performance across all channels and regions. Working closely with the CEO and the commercial teams to set the commercial objectives and strategies for all markets; ensuring their timely delivery.
It was crucial to the business that we were able to source a Commercial Director with strong leadership skills, who could inspire and drive the brand in a new strategic direction.
Understanding the brand’s rich heritage was essential in sourcing suitable talent. It was key to ensure that aside from the professional skill set required, the successful Commercial Director was also culturally aligned with the brands vision. The brand’s core values centre around adventure, risk-taking and exploration; their products are durable but stylish. Therefore our client wanted a candidate who embodied and understood their core customer demographic.
Through a tailored International search was required as the brand wanted an individual who had experience with a global HQ environment overseeing all channels to market with a focus on Omnichannel. Based on our understanding of the international organisational structures we shortlisted a number of profiles alongside recommendations. The role was filled within 9 weeks of commencement of project – with the first profile sent resulting in a hire. This role was based in Paris.
